The Story So Far:

A young Fairy named Rowanleaf has taken, excuse me-borrowed, a blank diary from a young human that lives not to far from her down the road. These pages are the journal entries from Rowanleaf’s diary that chronicle a Faeries life; happiness, sorrows, daily thoughts, friends, family, and love. That is all I can say for now…you will just have to read the pages to see how it all began, like all good stories, Once Upon A Time.

How It Began:

The Bramblewood Pages are a labor of love that I thought of while on our last trip to Ireland this last April. My favorite place in Ireland is the Boyne River Valley, and within this area is The Hill of Tara, the place that I sense the presence of Faery the most. A thought came to me while I was sitting in this beautiful place quite near the Stone of Destiny, “What if I found a Faery Diary?” The thoughts were fun and whimsical and came so quickly I had to try to remember the images and thoughts before they flew out of my minds eye like the fluttering of a faeries wing! Back at the Bed & Breakfast I wrote in my journal fast and feverishly, that is how the Bramblewood Pages started!

I create each page by hand as a type of collage/ journal/mixed media piece of art. They each start on a blank canvas and I then use gesso and diluted paints for the backgrounds. Each one has natural elements such as leaves, Irish Peat or walnut stain, and crushed herbs and flowers. I try to use as many natural elements as possible as stamps to produce textures. Each one incorporates an image (or images) from actual pictures I have taken on our travels to Ireland as well as adding in my own artwork and drawings. Each print will have information with it regarding any images used such as where in Ireland it was taken as well as any history or lore I can provide as well. Look for a new page every month! I hope you enjoy this wonderful ongoing story I have created (with help from the faeries of course) and continue to keep the heart of Faery alive within you always.
